The Athenian School Goes Green with Sky Power Solar

Danville, CA (PRWEB) May 16, 2012
Sky Power Solar, a leading provider of high-performance solar solutions in the Tri-Valley, announced today that it has completed the installation of a 22 kilowatt solar power system at The Athenian School in Danville, CA.
The new PV Solar Electric System that powers the schools Center for the Arts (CFTA) building, is Sky Power Solars third solar project at Athenian. In 2009, the San Ramon company installed a 21 kilowatt solar system atop the new, multi-purpose Dase Center and provided the schools solar pool heating system. Athenian now has enough solar electricity to cover approximately 70% of its electrical needs. The solar installations are not just friendly to the environment, they enable the school to control electrical costs.
We continue to explore ways to lower our energy cost and to extend our efforts in sustainable education, said Bob Oxenburgh, the schools Director of Finance and Business Operations. Sky Power Solar has proven to be an excellent partner, delivering a quality product and responsive customer support. We like the fact that they are a local company and have been around for 11 years.
In April, Athenian received the Department of Educations Green Ribbon Schools (GRS) award for participating in activities that promote an environmentally-friendly learning environment. Nearly 60% of Athenian’s hauled waste is recycled content, some 10% is composted, and the school has saved an estimated two million gallons of water annually since installing an all-weather sports field with a recycled infill center.
We applaud the efforts of The Athenian School in demonstrating a commitment to sustainability, said Bob Winn, president of Sky Power Solar, which was recently named one of the Top Ten Solar Installers of the Bay Area by the San Francisco Business Times. They really understand the long-term economics and are setting an example of how to conduct business using minimal resources for their students and the community.

American Cancer Society Lawn Mower Race Benefits Relay For Life. STA-BIL

Northbrook, IL (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
When Brice Johnstad of Foxboro, Wisconsin was six years old he had a dream to create a lawn mower race to honor the memory of his great grandfather Gary Smith, who lost his battle to cancer, as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society (ACS).
Now, three years later the U.S. Cure Mower Cancer Open will bring lawn mower racers from across the country to Superior, Wisconsin for a day of racing, fellowship and fundraising while honoring the memory of Brices great grandfather.
The Wisconsin Lawnmower Racing Association (WILMRA) will present the U.S. Cure Mower Cancer Open, Saturday, June 2, 2:00pm at the, Amsoil Speedway, 4700 Tower Ave, Superior, Wisconsin. Spectator admission is $ 5.00 for adults and $ 3.00 for children 6-12. All proceeds benefit the support the Douglas County Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society.
In 2010 the Johnstad family approached approached WILMRA and we gladly said we would help, said Shannon Kayhart, WILMRA President. In 2010 WILMRA brought out 13 kick grass racing mowers and put on a show, with drivers donating their race entry fees to Brice and the American Cancer Society. In 2011 we did Cure Mower Cancer II and decided to make it a WILMRA Open event to bring in all styles of mowers including local racers who can come out and join the fun. This year, were expanding so that even more racers can join us.”
For 2012, the U.S. Lawn Mower Racing Association (USLMRA) has added the event to their U.S. Open National Series which is a nationally sanctioned points series. We expect racers from the Minnesota Lawn Mower Racing Association (MNLMRA), Badger State Lawn Mower Racing Association (BSMRA), American Heartland Mower Racers (AHLMR) as well as Central Iowa Lawn Mower Racing Association (CILMRA) and racers from the Western Ontario Outlaws (WOO) in Canada. 2012 looks to be our best year ever.

Top UK Sports Nutrition Company Unveils New Vegan Protein
London, UK (PRWEB UK) 17 May 2012
Available throughout Europe from the beginning on June, new Vegan Protein is one of only a handful of protein powders that is specifically formulated for Vegans. It has to be one of the greenest protein powders in the world, not only is it derived from an environmentally sound crop of peas but its also made using 100% Green Energy.
The vegan sourced protein in Vegan Protein is made from a patented manufacturing process. The unique and environmentally friendly process extracts pure European pea protein using water and no chemicals. This has led to what Reflex Nutrition believe to be the perfect instant mixing vegan protein powder thats highly digestible and directly comparable to the best animal sources of protein like whey, eggs and milk. The great tasting instant mixing protein powder provides 75% protein that has 98% digestibility and a great amino acid score of 95%.
The research and development team at Reflex Nutrition are also keen to point out that the critically important Branch Chain Amino acids, L-Leucine, L-Isoleucine and L-Valine, which are responsible for building, repairing and maintaining muscle tissue are in abundance; in fact pea protein contains more BCAAs than the best egg white protein. Further Pea Protein contains up to double the amount of Arginine, responsible for growth, repair and Nitric Oxide synthesis, when compared to whey protein.
Managing Director James Phillips comments,
Weve wanted to manufacture a truly first class vegan protein powder for a number of years and its taken plenty of research & development to bring us to the point when we felt we were happy with finished product. We thoroughly researched a number of vegan based proteins but only one was deemed suitable. The protein needed to hypoallergenic, environmentally sound and provide an exceptional nutritional profile. In conjunction with this we were waiting for a natural sweetener to use in the product, Stevia was the obvious choice which became legal for use in food product late last year. Im very impressed with Reflex Vegan Protein, it ticks all boxes for Vegans and it represents excellent value for money.
Vegan Protein will be available from the beginning of June with a RRP of
Timex Marathon GPS Offers A Sub-$100 Pacing GPS For Runners, Cyclists and Outdoor Sports

Bozeman, MT (PRWEB) May 17, 2012
The Timex Marathon GPS is a cool GPS watch option for runners, cyclists and other outdoor sports because it offers both average and real-time pacing data including accurate distance. It is ideal for athletes that want pacing information but prefer not to wear a heart rate chest strap and it is affordable.
“We are really psyched about the Timex Marathon GPS because it offers both running and cycling modes” says Rusty Squire, President of the Heart Rate Watch Company. He adds, “It is the ideal GPS watch for those who don’t want a heart rate monitor but prefer pacing data for running, cycling, walking or just about any outdoor sport”.
Indeed the simplicity of use and pure pacing functions hold appeal for a lot of walkers, runners, cyclists, inline skaters, skiers and more but the real crux of the Timex Marathon GPS is that it is a GPS watch at a sub-$ 100 price point meaning that most anyone can afford it.
“All of the other GPS watches up until this year have been $ 200, $ 300 and even $ 400″ states Squire. He continues, “Granted they do more stuff but some people just want basic information and an affordable price point and that did not exist until now.”
The Timex Marathon GPS is water resistant to 30 meters, roughly 90 feet, and features an Indiglo back light for low light situations that illuminates the screen for 10 seconds at a time. The watch also shows time and date and when placed in running mode shows pace in minutes per mile, or per kilometer along with distance in miles, or kilometers and hundredths. The cycling mode shifts the display to show miles, or kilometers, per hour which is convenient for lots of different outdoor sports.
The watch unit takes about 60 to 90 seconds to acquire GPS signals and then users simply need to select a mode, run or bike, and hit the start/stop button.
“The simplicity of use, great price point and the fact that there is no strap involved make this a great product for exercisers that want the basics and no real complication” says Squire. He adds, “This is strictly a pacing and distance device that is accurate, nothing more and nothing less”.
Breaking the $ 100 barrier on entry-level GPS watch units is a big deal and this is precisely what the Timex Marathon GPS has accomplished.
Martin Leads Walmart FLW Tour on Potomac River

National Harbor, MD (PRWEB) May 17, 2012

The Potomac River, described by several of the worlds best bass anglers in the country as one of the top-10 fisheries in the country, really showed her true colors Thursday as 123 of the 144 pro anglers in the Walmart FLW Tour on the Potomac River presented by the National Guard caught a five-bass limit on day one of the event.
Leading the pack was National Guard pro Scott Martin of Clewiston, Fla., who crossed the stage with a five-bass limit weighing 22 pounds, 10 ounces. Martin now holds a comfortable 4 pound, 6 ounce lead over Snickers pro Chris Baumgardner of Gastonia, N.C., and fellow National Guard pro Mark Rose of West Memphis, Ark., who each caught five bass weighing 18-4. The tournament features a field of anglers from all across the United States, Canada, Spain and Japan.
I ran about 40 miles total and hit about 15 spots, said Martin, who is the 2011 Forrest Wood Cup Champion. I was fishing some areas that had as many as 20 boats in there. The thing that made the difference for me today was that I was paying attention to the pressure that certain grass beds were getting. I would wait for the beds that I could see werent getting a lot of pressure to open up and was usually able to get a good bite out of them; thats how I got one of my 6-pounders.
Catching the first 6-pounder on one of my first casts this morning really set the pace for me today, Martin continued. I thought I had caught a catfish.
Martin indicated that the tide wasnt a do-or-die for his fishing on the Potomac. He said that he really wasnt doing anything special just casting and flipping. It was his attention to detail that paid off for him today. He keyed in on less-pressured flats with grass and said every cast was made with a purpose.
Martin said he used Bruiser Baits and flipping creature-type baits and said he figured out what color and bait action really attracted the bass.
Its always a good feeling to have a comfortable lead, Martin went on to say. I had a decent practice but didnt expect to catch 22-10 today. Ill go out tomorrow and try the same thing. Cover a lot of water and manage the tide as best I can and hopefully I can smack em again.
Both Baumgarder and Rose said they were fishing in high-traffic areas as well. According to Rose, 90 percent of the bass in the Potomac are in a small area and anglers just need to key in on specific spots in those areas and hope for the best. While Baumgarder was using chatterbaits and Zoom Speed worms, Rose said that he stuck to Strike Kings KVD 1.5 crankbaits.
Rounding out the top 10 pros after day one on the Potomac River are:
